Miloon Kothari was an Indian human rights activist and advocate of the right to housing. He was born on June 27, 1948, in Mumbai, India, and died on December 23, 2014, in Beirut, Lebanon, while working on a project for the Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

He also served as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing from 2000-2008. He believed in the right to housing as a fundamental human right and worked towards advocating for this right on both national and international levels.
